I think the E9x 335i is one of the best enthusiast daily drivers available on the used market.
Fantastic handling/steering feel, no lag twin turbos, RWD, 6MT, nice interior, available as a coupe or sedan, easily mod-able.
Coming up on 75k in mine already and I absolutely love it. Makes the C300 feel like a Camry. Reliability problems really are overblown (do still have their problems). Don’t triple the boost and you’ll be fine. Parts are reasonable, and the aftermarket is fantastic.
For what I paid, I really can’t think of a better daily driver.

Get that dealer tag frame off there ASAP! Recessed frame is the best frame !

Agreed! For a daily it’s even better than a E9X M3.

I was discussing what I thought was the best 3 series DD you could buy just yesterday and said the E46 was the one I’d choose. I’ve driven many, owned an E30, E36, E46 and my wife currently DD’s an E90. While the E90 is the one most likely to get me speeding tickets on the freeway, I feel the E46 was the better car. IMO the E90 fell victim to the bean counters and it’s right on the cusp of cars becoming too complicated for their own good...for example, hate the radio? Pay up!
Hard to argue your point though, perhaps I’m showing my age in my preference.

Will definitely look for one next time I'm around Walmart.

The E46 is a fantastic car, the handling is even better than in the E9x. Tough to find clean 330i’s though, especially with a 6MT.

And in the meantime it takes like 30 seconds to remove the dealer frame. They are a pox upon all that is good and holy.

Much more economical, and the torque makes it a little easier to drive... But who wouldn't want to daily an M3??

Eh, I’m cool with leaving it on because they always hook me up with parts. I’m getting ready to get new plates, and when I do I’m gonna be removing the frame and no longer running a front plate.
Note: if you need OEM parts, I know everyone says getbmwparts is the cheapest reputable source, but look up the part number on BMW of fairfax’s website. They offer parts at 25% discount in many cases.

I’d rather have the torque, and softer ride for commuting. Seriously, if I never intended to do another trackday, I would sell mine and buy a 335i (or a M235i/M240i)

I love mine to death and it will only leave my possession when they grab the keys from my cold, dead and rigormortis stricken fingers.

She looks great! I often find myself wishing I had a facelifted E92.

... it’s ok guys I only doubled the boost
but yes the N54 is a magical engine if cared for. The gaskets will leak, the turbos will eventually rattle, the HFPF/Waterpump will implode, and the injectors/coils/sparks also get used up. But if you have a half decent set of tools and some time, their is great info for DIY plastered all over the net. I’ve done my own FMIC/CP/BOV install, got some help with downpipes, and did the walnut blasting with a mate

I see your E9x and raise you an E82 128i. N52 engine and 6 MT but in a smaller more tossable and lighter package. 230 HP and 200 LB-FT of torque is pretty fun, but not enough to get me into too much trouble.

very true. I hate when good cars fall into the cheap realm.
